Background


The call for nominations phase of the AGPN Board election process has now closed.

For the State of South Australia, two (2) GP Director nominations were received.  Divisions in South Australia will thus participate in a ballot to elect the South Australian GP Director on AGPN’s Board.

Although SBOs are members of AGPN, they do not have voting rights for the election of AGPN Directors but did coordinate the call for nominations phase of the election for their State/Territory.

Voting instructions

Ballot period
The ballot opened on Monday 03 August 2009 and closes at 5.00pm EST, Friday 28 August 2009.  This means that ballot papers must be received by the AGPN Returning Officer prior to this time.  Late ballots will not be accepted. 

Voting system
The voting system utilised in the AGPN Board election process is the optional standard preferential system of voting.  Unlike the standard preferential voting system where preferences have to be indicated in all candidate boxes, the optional standard preferential voting system allows the voter to decide whether to indicate one voting preference, or several.  Preferences become critical where candidate votes are tied.  The optional standard preferential system of voting is explained on  www.agpn.com.au under ‘About AGPN’ and then ‘2009 AGPN Board Elections’.

Scrutineers
A Division is able to appoint scrutineers at the counting of the votes.  Such requests must be in writing and submitted to the AGPN Returning Officer prior to Friday, 28 August 2009.
