Do you want to help shape the future of Medicare Locals?
AGPN is hosting three national events in February 2012 to develop a Medicare Locals Capability Framework.
We want to seek your input to make the Framework credible and meaningful.
Where are the events?
There will be 3 national events held in the following locations in February 2012:
- Brisbane – Wednesday 8 February, 1.00pm to 6.00pm

- Melbourne – Tuesday 21 February, 9.00am – 5.00pm
PricewaterhouseCoopers Office
Freshwater Place
Level 19, 2 Southbank Boulevard, Melbourne
- Adelaide – Tuesday 28 February, 9.00am – 5.00pm

Two delegates per Medicare Local (ML) and tranche 3 consortium applicants will be funded (as outlined below) to attend one of the workshops. Limited places are available at each location. No additional registrations will be taken once capacity has been reached.
What is a Capability Framework?
Capability is the quality of being capable; to have the capacity or ability to achieve specific goals and objectives. Organisations require a portfolio of capabilities that must be managed and maintained to achieve organisational outcomes.
A capability framework approach will focus on opportunities to understand the critical capabilities MLs need to be successful. This will enable MLs and the future national organisation to focus attention on capabilities relevant to the delivery of ML objectives both in the short term to successfully implement transitional arrangements, and long term to realise the vision for MLs as a key part of the health system.
The capability framework project is part of the National Transition Project funded by the Commonwealth. PricewaterhouseCoopers has been commissioned by AGPN to assist and advise in its development. The capability project is steered by an Advisory Group whose membership includes ML Chief Executives, academics and organisational development experts. The project has Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) endorsement and it is expected to be available by July 2012, following consultation with the ML network and other relevant stakeholders.
What can I expect to get out of the event?
- A chance to shape and influence the Capability Framework.
- A chance to focus on understanding the critical capabilities MLs need to be successful.
- An opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with other senior executives from MLs; from around your region and nationally.
