Clinical Governance Workshop (Closed Medicare Local Member Workshop)
Thursday 22 March 2012
9.00am to 4.00pm
The Sebel Surry Hills
Sydney
Background
Selection Criterion 2 requires Medicare Locals (ML) to have a “strategy for ensuring appropriate clinical governance” as an underpinning governance structure to support the MLs strategic objectives.
In early 2011 AGPN commissioned a Framework for Clinical Governance and since then a small working party of MLs, AGPN, SBOs and Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite have been working to produce a toolkit of resources to support MLs convert this strategy into practice.
The workshop has been designed to provide MLs with the background to clinical governance best practice in the context of ML operations, to provide the theoretical base, the evidence and to launch the resources that have been developed to support MLs. The workshop will provide an opportunity to consider how MLs can operate as providers, contractors and influencers of their local environment, with reference to the need to work in partnership with other organisations. There will be an opportunity to work through the self-assessment tool and work interactively in a think tank approach to consider the “so what now” question.
It is intended that delegates will leave with an understanding of the theory behind the toolkit and self-assessment and with the tools to build their own local response to the strategic requirement.
