Mental Health Intensive Workshop
“Partnerships and Collaboration in Mental Health”
Thursday 23 February 2012, 9.00am – 4.00pm
The Sebel Surry Hills, Sydney
Program
The Mental Health Partnership and Collaboration Workshop provides a unique and intensive opportunity for network members to enhance their skills and expertise in developing partnerships and fostering collaboration within the mental health sector. Under the Government’s Mental Health Reform agenda, a key focus will be on continuing and expanding successful primary care based initiatives such as ATAPS and headspace. Equally, priority is being given to developing new and improving existing services for people with severe and enduring mental health problems and those who experience particular disadvantage in accessing services.
Accordingly, Medicare Locals will be delivering and coordinating expanded mental health services within their communities, or partnering with other agencies to achieve this outcome. Strong leadership and collaboration between the health, welfare and social support sectors at a local level will be essential to effectively achieve good outcomes for the region’s population.
This Intensive Workshop will deliver the crucial information and conceptual framework for establishing partnerships in the primary mental health care sector. The pitfalls and challenges that accompany this type of engagement will also be addressed. Perspectives and presentations from headspace, the health sector and non-government organisations working in mental health care will feature as important opportunities for participating delegates to gain valuable information about the key factors in establishing and developing robust partnerships. Tools, templates and resources to assist in developing effective partnerships and collaboration will also be shared.
The final program is available for download here. The program will be regularly updated as new information becomes available.
