Template Constitution

The Medicare Local template constitution and guidance material have been prepared by DLA Phillips Fox on behalf of AGPN. These documents are intended to assist general practice networks in:

  • considering the matters that will need to be set out in a Medicare Local's constitution; and
  • understanding some of the key legal and practical issues that will need to be considered in preparing that constitution.

The template constitution outlines (in broad terms) some of the key provisions that might be used in preparing a Medical Local's constitution and the accompanying guidance material includes background information and high level guidance on a range of matters relevant to the establishment of Medicare Locals.

The template constitution is provided in pdf format for reference only, not as a base document. It contains significant gaps, particularly with respect to membership and board composition. It is not in a form that can be used and would require legal assistance to settle in a form acceptable for use.
